| Echoes Fallen Upon The
Trees
The Destro and Element Eighty
Trees 7-14-02 by Lasrie
The local show at Trees is usually pretty entertaining and
tonight was no exception. Waja, the band on first, were interesting,
mixing some reggae with other styles of music. The crowd gave
them respect, but not much enthusiasm. The two big bands of
the night were The Destro and Element Eighty. First up was
The Destro, who I have seen numerous times. The energy they
provided had the crowd going, the perfect set up for Element
Eighty. Music wise they have heavy grooves that get you pumped,
although the vocals could use some help, in my opinion. Overall,
though, the best I've seen them play.
Next up was the mighty Element Eighty. The band never fails
to deliver here at Trees. Tonight was indeed the best and
most solid performance. From the first notes of Flatline,
to the madness of Dummy Block, the pits for this show were
the most intense I have ever seen for Trees. Very hectic and
exciting ( I was in the middle of the pit for most of the
show). The only peaceful moment of the night was during Echo
Song and even then it was madness. They ended their set with
Bloodshot, but came out for a two song encore. At the end
of the night everyone's energy was drained from an amazing
performance. Once again, Element Eighty proves why, right
now, they are the best band in Dallas. |
