A Faith Called Chaos - Forgive Nothing
by Troy aka FreakOfNature

With Metalcore slowly but surely becoming the “Next Big Thing” in Metal music today, it’s always nice to find bands breaking out of the mold and trying to do something a little less ‘Mainstream’. As a matter of fact, A Faith Called Chaos may very be the most original Rock/Metal band in the D/FW area right now. These young kids have a very unique way of blending 70’s and 80’s rock, Hardcore, Thrash/Metalcore and even some Blues based rock into the mix.

Volcom Entertainment were nice enough to send me a fresh copy of AFCC’s latest release Forgive Nothing due out on June 1st. I’ve been listening to it non-stop for almost 2 weeks now and I just can’t get tired of it. The quality of the production on the CD, from start to end, is just perfect. CD Cover Artwork, done by Brittany Bartley is quite exceptional as well.

Now on to the stuff that really matters, the music. I must be a little naïve, because when I first inserted the CD into my Trucks CD Player, my first thoughts were “Umm… This is one shitty recording”. Of course that was just an intro and a few moments later I was pelted with a wall of sound. Every song on here has a certain ‘feel good’ aspect to it. If you miss the good old days of Rock ‘N’ Roll when it was all about having fun, including some flamboyant and impressive guitar solos, look no further than AFCC. It seems as though too many people are taking music to seriously these days so this is a nice change of pace.

All in all, I can honestly say that I love the entire CD. I couldn’t pick one favorite song if I had to but the few standouts on this album for me are Forgive Nothing, We woke up a fire and The Pugilist. This album will most assuredly remain in my rotation for quite a while.

An honest review wouldn’t be complete without at least some complaints as NO album is perfect. The only real complaint I have with the CD is the fact that the dirty vox got a bit monotonous at times. There was no real fluctuation and it got somewhat bland at times but this is a very minor thing.

Catch A Faith Called Chaos in a city near you on the VANS Warped Tour.
